Window Decorating Contest

This year our theme is WHITE.

Our annual window decorating contest will be for everyone.

There will be no need to register or be nominated.  All locations will be included in our judging process.

A panel of 3 judges will be selected from our Board.  They will review each location and determine which displays will merit recognition for First, Second or Third place plaques.

We encourage everyone to promote a renewed spirit of excitement through your creative displays.   Lets demonstrate we are a community that accepts our challenges and cares about promoting a positive image to all.

Holiday Spirit is Here

With the Christmas season approaching us soon we are very busy planning many traditional events. We have been very fortunate with everyone supporting our downtown retailers to have been able to come together and purchase beautiful new decorative snowflakes that will be lining Talbot St.

There will also be new winter banners and also our parkette’s will be lit and beautifully decorated.  This will hopefully add a beautiful touch to our city and our downtown so everyone can enjoy.

The Santa Claus parade is always a great event to get community together and to be able to share what the city has to offer. We as merchants want this season to be joyous for everyone.

We hope that you will join us downtown with all we have to offer and enjoy the beautiful scenery and the wonderful feeling we are trying to create for all our community.

We appreciate all your support and wish continued success for everyone throughout the year in health and happiness.

We hope everyone has a successful and prosperous 2012 year!

Optimist Santa Clause Parade

Adding to the season’s excitement in our downtown will be the spectacular Optimist Santa Claus Parade.   Santa and his helpers will arrive on Saturday, November 19, 2011 starting at 6pm.   Bands, floats, colourful costumes, festive music and so much more will entertain all.  Of course the kids will love the candy.

Please try to remember the Caring Cupboard, Christmas Care and other charities.  Canned goods, clothing and durable goods will be collected along the parade route by the local firefighters.

A special treat will be the appearance of the Rick Hansen tour and its special guests to promote his Man in Motion projects.

We are honoured to welcome this tour to our community.   Join in the fun!

Home and Garden Show 2012

The 2011 St. Thomas Home, Garden and Outdoor Living Show held at the Timken Centre this past spring was a huge success.  The 2012 show will run from March 29th to April 2nd.  As a DDB we have the opportunity to take exclusive use of The Doug Tarry Room at the Timken Centre.  It can be divided into 16-20 booths and includes a small community and entertainment area.  We can make this area the “Place to Be” for show visitors.  So far about 13 downtown businesses, as well as our own DDB, have agreed to be part of this project but we need you to make it a success.  If all booths are reserved the cost can be substantially reduced to $400 from the normal cost of $470.

Idea for our Downtown St. Thomas area include a grand banner entrance that can’t be missed, a music and entertainment schedule, floral displays, free samples of food and beverages from downtown restaurants, special business promotions and lots of give-aways including our famous DDB shopping bags.

But you must act soon!  Please contact Earl Taylor at 519-670-9223 or Sherry Chambers at 519-631-1966 immediately to reserve your space.
